Myodynamic
Remodeling: A
Definition
Myodynamic Remodeling (MR),
a technique pioneered by doctors at AHC, produces outstanding
results. Once limited primarily to sports therapy, MR gained
fame by drastically reducing athletes' recovery time, enabling
them to get back into the game sooner.
The
prefix myo stands for entire muscular system,
which includes the enveloping tissue (fascia) and the
neurovascular tissues that pass through the muscle itself.
Dynamic
refers to motion during treatment.
Remodeling
suggests a primary change in function and structure, where
the muscle tissue is brought back to its original healthy
state.

When Injury Occurs
When
you get injured, swelling and inflammation are outward signs, but
within the affected tissue, adhesions--sometimes called
micro-scars--form to protect the injured tendon, muscle, or joint.
This biochemical response is known as fibrous healing, and it may
occur inside muscle tissue, between muscle fibers, or across
different muscles.
These
adhesions are an integral part of the healing process; however,
their main function--to protect the area by inhibiting
movement--eventually slows healing and hinders the return to normal
life. If left untreated, these adhesions shorten the muscles and
ligaments, which often leads to poor stability, a reflexive fear of
re-injury, and reduced range of motion.
How Myodynamic Remodeling Works
Myodynamic
Remodeling breaks up these
harmful adhesions by applying pressure to the affected area
throughout the full range of motion. This is done by performing deep
tissue massage in the direction of the muscles fibers as the muscle
itself is flexed, which frees up the affected tissues and stabilizes
the area by improving the muscle's strength and range of motion.
At
Absolute Health Center, you can expect positive long-term results
because we treat the cause of the pain.
We always strive for absolute healing. With every
patient,
our mission is to minimize pain and maximize function.
